If you can't think of anything appropriate to say, please restrict your remarks to the weather.
i've come to realize that the weather most definitely effects my mood in a big way. today was the prettiest day! it was warm & breezy & sunny & just gorgeous! the sky was bright blue with a few wispy clouds. i was in a great mood all day. very happy & optimistic. if i hadn't had phone duty for the better part of the afternoon, i'd have just sat in the park & sketched or read a book all day.
now that it's a little after 5pm, it's getting gloomy. there are major thunderstorms predicted for tonight (o god i just remembered those tornadoes that swept through tennessee...i hope that's not the kind of weather we're in for tonight!) and the sky's clouding over. i can feel myself getting less cheery & more tired. of course, that could have something to do with the fact that my friend chelsea & i stayed up way past 1am painting & doing other art projects.....and then i did crossword puzzles (i'm such a nerd) in bed til 3:30am. then had to get up at 9am.
i love thunderstorms, in general. especially when they happen at night. it's so soothing to lay in your comfy, warm bed & listen to the thunder & see the lightning. a lot of my friends who aren't from here are afraid of thunderstorms. i guess my love of them is something that came from growing up in the lowcountry. we have a subtropical climate & the weather is always changing, so we have pretty frequent storms. i found it weird that it doesn't really storm much in southern california. we lived in san diego for a year & a half, and i heard thunder ONCE. we had a really rainy winter when we lived there too! but never thunder & lightning. i think rain is just too gloomy without thunder & lightning.
speaking of all that, i can't believe how warm this winter has been. i think we've had maybe two weeks worth of cold weather combined since october/november. it makes me think a lot about all this global warming stuff. but not right now...my brain is too tired.... that's a topic for another day.
